For the first time in her life, Debbie Kline says she has hope for the future. The 30-year-old St. Joseph County native just completed training in the Momentum program offered by Urban Alliance in the Edison neighborhood and the Production Technician Academy at Kalamazoo Valley Community College. She was one of 12 students enrolled in a pilot program designed to remove barriers to employment for adults who have criminal backgrounds, lack a G.E.D. or high school diploma or have other employment barriers. Other program partners include The W.E. Upjohn Institute for Employment Research and the Kalamazoo Literacy Council. Read More

KALAMAZOO, MI — The Urban Alliance held two open houses this week to celebrate its completion of a entire house rehabilitation at 1226 Washington Ave. In partnership with the City of Kalamazoo Home Grant program, Urban Alliance and several community partners has been working on this home and several others on Washington Avenue in the Edison neighborhood.
