Life Camps
Urban Alliance is hosting two Life Camp events to help provide area youth with tools and resources to step outside the cycles of gun violence within Kalamazoo.
Life Camps is a two-day event coordinated by Urban Alliance and community partners to encourage and support local youth in advocating for human dignity rather than participating in destructive behaviors that lead to gun violence.
Our goal is to re-educate youth between the ages of 11-13 about gun usage and protect them from the serious consequences that result from pulling the trigger to harm someone. Attendees will be equipped through S.U.M. Fun Empowerment discussion:
- Social Media: Friend or foe
- Under the influence: In your right mind
- Music: The gateway to the soul
Boys and girls ages 11 to 13 are welcome to attend!
Camp activities include:

- Various advocacy contests with the chance to earn $100-125.
- Opportunities to demonstrate talents to the community.
- Challenging team building activities.
- An ultimate treasure hunt.
- S.U.M. Fun and Empowerment discussions.
Financial Incentive
A total of 18 participants will each be awarded $100 for demonstrating outstanding leadership!

*Transportation will only be provided on Saturday for those who registered for Sherman Lake. Urban Alliance will provide transportation from Urban Alliance to Sherman Lake and back to Urban Alliance. All campers must arrive at Urban Alliance at 8:30am on Saturday and pick up between 5:30-5:45 pm. at the same location.

Please Note:
- For the safety of your child and our staff and volunteers, all information in this form must be completed to participate in the camp. Registration should be completed by the parent or legal guardian of the child to ensure that we have the proper and legal documentation on file.
- Urban Alliance Life Camps are open to boys and girls between the ages of 11 and 13. Spots are limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis with the exception of special circumstances which will be determined by Urban Alliance Leadership. Parents/guardians will be notified via phone/email upon their child being successfully registered.
